How to Keep Summer Time Snacking Healthy

Nothing beats a cold treat on a hot summer day. But most cold treats are also high in sugar and processed ingredients.
These healthy and simple summer snacks are awesome fruit alternatives to some of our favourite summer snacks.
🍌🥝🍓 DIY Ice lollies
For a sweet but healthy treat, use yogurt, blended fresh fruit, or 100% juice to make healthy ice lollies. In fact, you can even freeze some fruits just as they are! Watermelon slices, kiwi slices, and whole bananas make great popsicles – all you have to do is put them on a skewer and pop them in the freezer!
🍎🍐 Fruit Nachos
Apple and pear nachos will keep the kids and the adults happy! Slice apples and/or pears and arrange them on a large dish. Drizzle with peanut butter, caramel, or chocolate sauce and then top with whatever you prefer: coconut flakes, white chocolate chips, chopped strawberries or bananas, nuts, craisins or raisins. The possibilities are endless! And they look cute, too.
🍉🍨 Watermelon Slush
This watermelon slush is the perfect healthy alternative to the high sugar slushees you buy at the store.
Add slices of watermelon, some lime juice, and a little bit of coconut sugar to a blender and mix well. Put the mixture in your freezer but be sure to scrape through it and separate with a fork after one hour and two hours – this will ensure the slushy texture. (Otherwise, it will freeze as a solid block.) Eat it with a spoon or add the mixture back to the blender with a little bit of water or juice to drink with a straw.
