Mindful eating is an incredibly useful technique to eat better, feel better, and lose weight. 

In today’s busy world, we are often consuming our meals and snacks on-the-go, in a hurry, as a means to an end, or in front of the TV after a long day. 

Because we aren’t paying attention, we overeat, choose convenience over health, and snack when we don’t need to – all of which are negative to our health and can increase weight gain.  

Here are 4 tricks to help YOU slow down and be mindful about what and how you eat.

✔️ Listen to your body’s hunger cues.

Only eat when you are hungry and don’t continue to eat after you feel full.  

✔️ Recognise non-hunger eating triggers. 

A lot of snacking and overeating occurs because we associate eating with certain actions (watching TV, walking past the cookie jar, etc.) or emotions. 

✔️  Eat slowly and without distraction. 

Put your phone down, turn off your TV, and chew slowly. Eating quickly doesn’t allow our body time to recognise that it is no longer hungry – which leads to overeating. 

✔️ Put your fork down between each bite. 

Instead of already loading your fork up for the next bite – take the time to appreciate your food. 

Paying attention is one of the best things that you can do for your diet!
