Scientist. Educator. Practitioner.
Meet Dr Monika Gostic
A scientist and university lecturer translating genetics, nutrition and lifestyle medicine into practical support for real lives.
Based in Aberdeen and originally from Slovenia, I work with individuals, communities and organisations to make complex health science understandable, useful and human.
Why my approach is different
Health advice often becomes either academically correct but unusable, or simple enough to sell but stripped of nuance. My work sits between those extremes: rigorous evidence, translated into realistic decisions and adapted to the person or audience in front of me.
Scientific foundation
PhD in Genetics, MSc in Biology and BSc in Microbiology, with experience across molecular genetics, microbiology, immunology and evidence appraisal.
Education & communication
University lecturer and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, experienced in teaching, curriculum development, public engagement and scientific communication.
Real-world practice
Functional nutrition and lifestyle-medicine support for weight, menopause, endometriosis, metabolic health, digestive symptoms and persistent conditions.
Balanced. Authentic. Deserving.
The B.A.D. philosophy rejects the idea that health must be earned through punishment, perfection or shame.
Balanced means scientifically sound and sustainable. Authentic means working with your biology, values and circumstances. Deserving means health support should protect dignity and agency.
