I love a good spa day. My bank account – not so much!
Not to say that it isn’t worth a splurge every now and then (as I whisper, “Treat yo’self,”) but a day at the spa is often an expense that we just can’t justify on a regular basis.
Yet we certainly need self care and an opportunity to destress on a regular basis!
Follow these easy steps for the perfect at-home spa day. (Cue the relaxation.)
? Set the mood with music.
Studies have repeatedly shown that music reduces anxiety (up to 65%!!) and increases relaxation by calming the nervous system. So put on your fav tunes and let the music move ya!
? Light a relaxing, aromatherapy candle.
Our smell receptors are directly linked to our limbic system – which is where we house our emotions. Choosing a candle with a relaxing scent (lavender, chamomile, bergamot..) can lower your stress level, increase feelings of relaxation, and provide pleasure.
? Hang fresh eucalyptus or a sachet of lavender in your shower.
Hanging either of these natural stress remedies in your shower and then running a bath or taking a shower will release the essential oils and provide you with relaxing benefits. Plus they smell good!
? Simple and super hydrating DIY face mask.
This easy at-home facial will boost your hydration and leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. Mix ½ ripe avocado, 1 tablespoon honey, handful of oats (optional), and a tablespoon of milk (optional) and smooth over your face for 15 minutes.
? Soak your sore muscles with DIY bath soak.
Draw a bath and pour in ½ cup epsom salt, ½ cup pink himalayan sea salt, ½ cup baking soda, and 6-8 drops of essential oils (optional). Then relax and soak!
? Bonus Tip: Give yourself a hand massage with moisturiser before bed!
Do you have a great DIY recipe for a face mask, hair mask or bath soak? Let me hear it!
Love,
Monika
