Holiday Hacks to Keep Your Diet on Track
Here are a few simple hacks to help you stay on track while enjoying your get away!
☀️ When you are going to eat at a restaurant, look at the menu ahead of time to plan what you are going to order. Planning ahead will help you stick to whatever guidelines you are trying to follow.
☀️ If your vacation rental has a kitchen, bring the foods that you typically have at home and plan healthy meals.
☀️ If vacationing in a group and taking turns making meals, bring salads and other diet friendly options to supplement dinner on nights someone else is cooking. Enjoy a smaller portion of the prepared meal and supplement the rest of the meal with your healthier option as well.
☀️ Bring healthy snacks. Sharing space with other family members or friends means that the snacks that they bring are often openly available to you. Bring fruits and veggies to avoid snacking on chips and cookies that others might bring.
☀️ Stay hydrated! For your own general health, but also because drinking a glass of water before a meal will help you to limit your food intake.
☀️ Choose which days to indulge in dessert. Who doesn’t love ice cream or some cotton candy on the boardwalk? Plan ahead for which days you want to treat yourself so that you aren’t adding sweets to every single day of your vacation.
And remember, vacation is meant to be a break from daily life. So let yourself enjoy a dessert (or a frozen pina colada!) without feeling guilty. Sticking to these hacks for your daily meals will allow you to indulge a little while still not going completely off the rails with your healthy diet.
I am looking forward to a local summer trip in Scotland with my family for vacation this year.
